The Popularity of Green Goblets

Colored goblets are nothing new. Although you can find goblets of every imaginable shade on the market today they have been available for ages. Green goblets are some of the most sought after of all colored goblets for various reasons. First of all, green is a popular color. Even people seeking affordable plastic drinking goblets often go for green especially during the holiday season. There is just something festive about green, especially when it is paired with other holiday colors such as red.

You will also find plenty of green antique glass goblets in stores and online. During the Depression era green glass was quite popular. Also known as carnival glass, the goblets made during this time period were often adorned with decorative etchings and designs. If you're lucky you can find intact goblet sets in antique stores or online, but often you will find parts of sets because the other glasses have been lost or broken. Sometimes even a single goblet will be valuable because of its manufacturer or age.

Colored goblets are great for dressing up your table any time of the year. Green comes in many shades and hues, with the most common antique green being the approximate color of grass. Of course today you can find hunter green, lime green, every shade of green imaginable. Sometimes the entire goblet is colored gree, while other times green glass or even plastic is used as an adornment to the clear glass or plastic. Using the Internet to browse the selection available can help you track down the ideal goblet or goblet set for your needs.

On the subject of plastic, green goblets made from it are ideal for holiday desserts and beverages for children. Kids love drinking out of fancy cups but often aren't quite old enough for glass. Colored plastic goblets give any table that affluent feeling without the breakage or expense. Even adults can enjoy using pretty plastic. Goblets are perfect for drinking water, wine, punch and lots more. If you are determined to use antique green glass, make sure it is free from lead by testing it with a lead test kit before use, or better yet put your antiques in the curio cabinet and buy new glass to use for the everyday.
