This allows the wine to breathe and releases the various aromas. The tall height directs the wine to the back of the tongue where optimum flavor can be experienced. While not necessarily a red wine goblet, a sherry glass is something you may also want in your stemware collection. Sherry, port, cordials, liquors and layered cocktail drinks can be served from this type of goblet. The average sherry glass holds about 4 fluid ounces and features a bowl that is tapered towards the top to enhance the aroma of the beverage. If you want a stocked bar then it is a good idea to keep a set of sherry glasses just in case. If you ever have a guest who enjoys sherry or you decide to try some in lieu of wine you'll be glad you have the glasses ready.
